Mass shooting at Pulse nightclub, Orlando

First and foremost, I express my deepest condolences to those who suffered a lost from this tragic event. As a resident of Orlando, hearing of this massacre profoundly upset me. To think that anyone is capable of targeting random individuals because of a totally alienated event is sickening. The Pulse clubbers by no means did anything to deserve such a  horrific fate.

According to the article 50 killed in Florida gay club massacre, deadliest mass shooting in US history posted by the New York Post, the exchange between the assailant and the law enforcement lasted for about three hours and in the end resulted in the death and  hospitalization of around 100 people. Although there were reports of the assailant calling 911 and pledging allegiance to the terrorizing group of individuals, according to the perpetrator's father, he was only a homophobe.

It is extremely sad to ponder on the fact that many will not see their loved one again because of this act of terror. As a country, it is surreal to accept that one of our own could commit such an act against us.

Our president has spoken:

At times like this, I for one find it comforting to know that someone cares. To the LGBT community, once again sincere condolences.

This is by far the most tragic act of terror in the United States since Columbine.

At the end of this grievous event, the LGBT community has taken a hit but you must remember that we as a country stand behind you. I personally stand behind not because it was an attack on the LGBT community but because it was an attack the community as a whole. My community.
The victims and their love ones will forever be in our prayers.
